OUR STORY
The first Axel store opened in Aarhus in 1993; its ambition to be a place where men could dress themselves in style with exclusive, designer menswear from leading fashion houses from around the world.
The concept of bringing traditional and high fashion designer menswear from the world’s metropolises and selling them under one roof proved popular among local men. Fifteen years later, the Aarhus store on the corner of Sct. Clemens Stræde and Maren Smeds Gyde, was joined by another Axel store, this one located in the centre of Copenhagen.

AXEL KAUFMANN is a traditional, family-owned business with over 100 years of history. We work with a fundamental respect for quality and responsibility – including the environmental and social impacts that come with our industry.
We recognize that the textile industry has a significant environmental impact, and that our own company – particularly with the growth of our online sales – contributes to this. Therefore, we focus on making more responsible choices in our daily operations. Concepts like sustainability and climate action are complex and without simple solutions. We are continuously working to understand, reduce, and – where possible – compensate for parts of our environmental footprint. We want to take small, but meaningful steps – and we hope that our customers will want to follow this development.
